Гарри предстоит четвёртый год обучения в школе волшебства и чародейства Хогвартс. Этот год знаменателен тем, что Хогвартс станет местом проведения турнира трех волшебников, в котором будут принимать участие три школы волшебства (по одному участнику от каждой школы). Гарри не подавал заявки на участие в тунире, но тем не менее Кубок Огня назвал его четвертым участником. Решения кубка священны, и Гарри помимо своей воли приходится принимать участие в соревновании. Четырем волшебникам предстоит пройти три испытания: битва с драконом, вызволение близкого человека из подводного царства и лабиринт, в котором нужно первым найти Кубок Огня. Тот, кто быстрее всех справится с третьим заданием, победит и получит Кубок Огня. Но турнир оборачивается трагедией...
